This filling chicken recipe can be a meal if you serve it with white rice


Ingredients
4 tablespoons gheeClick to find more about ghee or vegetable or peanut oil
8 skinless, boneless chickenClick to find more about chicken thighs, sliced
1 large onionClick to find more about onion, chopped
2 tablespoons garlicClick to find more about garlic and gingerClick to find more about ginger paste
2 green bell peppersClick to find more about bell peppers, seeded and chopped
1 large fresh green chili, seeded and chopped
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon ground coriander
1/4-1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon ground turmericClick to find more about turmeric
1/4 teaspoon saltClick to find more about salt
14 oz/400 g canned chopped tomatoes
1/2 cup water


Preparation
Melt half the gheeClick to find more about ghee or oil in a wok or karahi over medium-high heat.
Add the chickenClick to find more about chicken pieces and cook.
Stirring frequently for 5 minutes until browned but not necesssarily cooked through.
Remove from the pan and reserve.
Take the remaining oil or gheeClick to find more about ghee in the pan.
Add the onionClick to find more about onion and cook, stirring frequently for 5-8 minutes until golden brown.
Stir in the gingerClick to find more about ginger and garlicClick to find more about garlic paste and continue cooking for 2-3 minutes.
Add the bell peppersClick to find more about bell peppers to the pan and cool for 2 minutes.
Stir in the finely chopped chili to taste, cumin, corriander, chili powder, turmericClick to find more about turmeric and saltClick to find more about salt.
Add the tomatoes with their juices and the water and bring to a boil.
Reduce the heat to low, add the chickenClick to find more about chicken, and let simmer, uncovered for 10 minutes.
Stirring frequently, until the bell peppersClick to find more about bell peppers are tender, the chickenClick to find more about chicken is cooked through and the juices run clear if you pierce a few pieces with the tip of a knife.
Serve sprinkled with chopped cilantro and garnished with whole chilies.

Will rate after completed the master cheif of my home cooking chicken jelfrezi, hi angel, I saw a clip on how to make this and it showes green peppers and red peppers but you have not stated it other wise, I will add these in and see how it turns wish me luck as am cooking this for my new husband as we just got married he is from pakistan and he just loves chicken very much so i thought this is a good dish for my husband many thanks will let you know how it turns out for him,,,,

Hey aqeel....will that be the 14 oz tin of chopped tomatoes.that gets added with their juices.....Yep there are Toms in the recipe It is a good and simple recipe

this recipe like all the ones on these sites are made up recipies for us brits,,the real jalfrezi would only include meat if it was available,fish is more commonly used,dont forget these were poor 3rd world people!!! so jut add what you like it will still taste the same.....
