Shola recipe by maham at
A delicious shola recipe, similar to haleem, but made with mince meat (Qeema), rice, wholegrains.

Basmati rice 1/2 kg
Minced mutton 1/2 kg
Moong lentils with skin 1 cup
Yogurt 1/2 cup
SpinachClick to find more about Spinach chopped 2 cups
Soya chopped 2 tbsp
OnionClick to find more about Onion finely cut 2
GingerClick to find more about Ginger/garlicClick to find more about garlic paste 3 tsp
Red chilli powder 3 tsp
TurmericClick to find more about Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
SaltClick to find more about Salt 2 tsp
All spices powder 1/2 tsp
Tomatoes chopped 2
Corriander powder 2 tsp
Oil 1 cup
Green Chillies and gingerClick to find more about ginger chopped for garnishing

Soak rice and moong daal in water.
Heat oil in a pot and fry onions.
Take out half of the fried onionClick to find more about onion and add mince.
Add gingerClick to find more about ginger/garlicClick to find more about garlic, turmericClick to find more about turmeric, red chilli, saltClick to find more about salt, coriander and tomatoes.
Cook mince for 1/2 an hour.
Add spinachClick to find more about spinach and yogurt and cook for 10 more minutes.
Add soaked lentils, rice and 3 cups of water.
Cook until all ingredients become tender.
Finally add soya and all spices powder and stir well.
Garnish with the saved fried onions, green chillies and gingerClick to find more about ginger and serve.

Is it same Shola rice made with lots of meat .. a specialty from Charsadda/Peshawar where its known as Ghatti Wreji ?
