Hint of spices, onions and tomatoes gives this dish a sweet flavor which makes it unique and irresistible daal


Ingredients
1 cup chanaClick to find more about chana daal (soaked for an hour but not neccasary)
1 tsp haldiClick to find more about haldi
1 tsp saltClick to find more about salt or to taste
1 onionClick to find more about onion chopped 3 cloves garlicClick to find more about garlic minced
1/4 cup gheeClick to find more about ghee or half stick of butter
3 cloves garlicClick to find more about garlic minced
green chili or red to taste
1 tomatoClick to find more about tomato chopped
1 tsp ground coriander
1/4 tsp zeeraClick to find more about zeera ground and 1 tbs. chopped cilantro (hara dhaniaClick to find more about hara dhania) for garnish


Preparation
Add the daal in a small sauce pan with 1 glass of water to cover the daal. Add 1/2 tsp haldiClick to find more about haldi, 1 tsp saltClick to find more about salt and bring to a boil.
Cook until the daal is tender but not to soft.
In another pot sautee the onions and garlicClick to find more about garlic until they are golden.
Add tomatoClick to find more about tomato, half tsp haldiClick to find more about haldi, pepper and spices.
Cook until tomatoClick to find more about tomato is tender.
Add the daal including the water that it cooked in.
Bring to a simmer and cook until desired thickness .

To keep the daal soft, soak it in water overnight with a pinch of baking soda.

Very delicious dal! I added one Knorr chicken cube and did not use fresh dhania as I did not have at that moment but though very very tasty!!! Thank You Ms. Younus :)
