1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds (jeera)
6 to 8 curry leaves
1/4 teaspoon asafoetida (hing)
1 green chilli, chopped
1 onion, chopped
2 teaspoons ginger-green chilli paste
1/2 teaspoon garlic paste

1 tablespoon oil
Salt to taste

Add the green chilli and onion saute for 3 to 4 minutes.
Add the ginger-green chilli paste, garlic paste and tomato and saute for 3 to 4 more minutes.
Add the chilli powder, turmeric powder and mixed vegetables and mix well.
Add the dals and salt and simmer for 5 to 10 minutes.
Garnish with the chopped coriander and serve hot.
Tips
You can use any left-over vegetable or curry instead of the mixed vegetables. This way you will have a different flavour each time.
