Ingredients
2 cups masoor daal
1 1/2 teaspoons garam masala
1 1/2 teaspoons turmericClick to find more about turmeric
1 tsp saltClick to find more about salt
1/3 cup oil
1 1/2 onions, chopped
1 head garlicClick to find more about garlic, separated, chopped
1 (1-inch piece) gingerClick to find more about ginger root, chopped
2 jalapeno chiles, chopped
2 tomatoes, chopped
1 bunch coriander, chopped
Water


Preparation
Rinse massor daal thoroughly, until water is clear. In pot bring 1 quart water to boil. Add massor daal.
Cook half way, about 10 to 15 minutes, add 1/2 teaspoon garam masala, 1/2 teaspoon turmericClick to find more about turmeric and saltClick to find more about salt. As massor dhal cooks, uncovered, water will evaporate and mixture will thicken.
Add more water to keep dalClick to find more about dal loose, like texture of thick cream. When dalClick to find more about dal is soft, turn off heat. Heat oil in wok. When oil is very hot, add onions and cook until tender and translucent but not browned.
Add garlicClick to find more about garlic, gingerClick to find more about ginger and chiles. Continue to fry until onions are deep-yellow. Add remaining 1 teaspoon each garam masala and turmericClick to find more about turmeric.
Do not allow spices to burn. Keep stirring until mixture starts to stick. Add tomatoes and cilantro. Cook until tomatoClick to find more about tomato softens.
Pour in pot of masoor daal and simmer to blend flavors. Taste and add more saltClick to find more about salt if needed.

On the bottom where the ingredients are listed you wrote 1 bunch coriander? Did you mean cilantro since I think I saw that in the preparation. I'm going to try making it, but from the picture I give it a 5-star rating. I'll update my post once made.

If u use the actual measuring cup, they are all same size :-)

daal shud b 2 cups means... I mean u did not mention the size of the cup n cups vary in sizes.. can this confusion br cleared? thnx!
