A sweet variation to a typical savoury rice recipe, Meethe chawal have rice cooked with sugar and flavoured with cardamom, raisans etc.


Ingredients
2 cups of rice.
2 cups of sugar.
25 grams of almondsClick to find more about almonds.
25 grams pistachios.
half a cup of grated coconut.
4-5 cherries cut into half.
food colouring


Preparation
Boil rice until they are 1/3 cooked.
Add sugar and stir until the sugar has dissolved.
Add the food coloring and leave it to boil on a very low heat for about 10 minutes.
Put the rice into a bowl. Add the rest of the ingredients and serve.

er.. I haven't tried this recipe yet, and I'll comment again when I have, with my opinions on how the rice came out, but for now I'm a little surprised at all the negative comments - I think some people are confused about the instructions. You're not supposed to add the sugar when the rice is cooked and on dum, you're supposed to add it when the rice is half cooked and there's still plenty of water.

I think its not a genuine recipe. The sugar does melt in rice if its on dam but still its not the traditional recipe
