Home Made Ras Malai recipe by Mariam at
Dumplings made from cottage or riccotta cheese soaked in sweetened, thickened milk delicately flavored with cardamom.

3-2 oz ricotta cheese(or an equivalent amountt of freshly made Paneer)
10 oz powdered Confectioner's sugar
2 small packets Half and Half
1 tsp powdered cardamomClick to find more about cardamom
1/2 tsp rose water
2 tsp slivered almondsClick to find more about almonds
2 tsp chopped pistachios
6 cups water
3 cups sugar

If you are using the Ricotta cheese,
mix together the confectioner's sugar and cheese.
Spread on a baking dish and bake in a moderate oven for about 1 1/2 hrs till the cheese turns light brown and loses all moisture.
Take it out and let it cool.
When cool, shape into small flat balls.
If you are using paneer, mix the paneer and sugar and shape it into flat balls.
Bring the water and sugar to a boil to yield sugar syrup.The syrup should not be too thick.
Insert the balls one by one in the syrup and warm them up. They should become spongy.
In the meantime, boil the half and half with the rose water.
Set aside.
Add the cardamomClick to find more about cardamom and nuts to the half and half.
Mix well.
Add the cooked balls to the half and half.
Let it stay immersed for about 1 hr.
You can either chill it or serve it at room temperature.

half & half is.......half milk and half cream its available in usa easily in dairy section.............if u cant find that one can use 1 can of condence milk ,1 can carnation(eveporated milk) or simply use milk with condence milk ......put some ground cardamon(elachi) few drop of rose water and bring it to a boil.....RASMALI milk is ready.............abut RASMALI BALLS..... put paneer in food proccessor with cardamon (grounded) and 1 tsp flour(maida) then start the machine for 2 min, and it will make a big ball like a dough.......then on other pot boil some water with sugar after that make small smooth balls out of that big paneer ball and than put them slowly in sugar water and boil for few min then put them in sweet milk recipe above....garnish with almonds...............enjoy

I've heard about this other way on how to make Ras-Malai.. buh it doesn't need an Oven or something .. I watched it on TV. buh didn't actually write the method down .. so like if you do know how to make that one. can you please write it down out here, so that I can try it at home? thanks.. =)
