Hareesa recipe by Angie at PakiRecipes.com.
Hareesa is an Arabic dish which is very similar to Haleem and its very mild in spices like chillies etc.
Mutton / Beef (Leg piece {raan})1 kg.
Porridge (daliya) 1/2 kg.
Rice 25 gms.
Mix Daals(moong and masoor) 25 gms.
Ginger 1/2 pao.
Onions 1 large.
Turmeric Powder 1 chataank.
Salt
1 chataank Garam Masala.
Oil 2 cups.
For garnish
Onion and Ginger and garam masala.
First of all boil porridge, daals and rice (remember not to boil rice together with the porridge as it takes longer to boil the porridge) so first boil porridge and daals after its 3/4 done add rice in the same pan and let them cook until the rice are done..
Take another pan and cook the meat until it gets tender.
Now add rice, porridge mix with the meat in a pan and add ginger, onions ,garlic, red chillies ,turmeric powder, salt , garam masala and cook for 30 to 40 mins.
Now take out the meat and shred it with your hands and put it back in the pan... and further cook for 10 mins.
Stirring continiously with a wodden spatula (ghotta lagana).
Now heat oil and fry onions and ginger until golden in color and add this in the hareesa (tarka).
Optional Serving seggestion:make small (very small ) long kebabs (pre cooked ) steamed prefferably.
Add them in your hareesa...5 to 10 mins before serving.
