Dear members & visitors,
I'd take this opportunity to start this thread by introducing myself first. As the administrator/owner/designer/programmer/janitor/everything of PakiRecipes I will also write a little history of PakiRecipe's life online.
I am Nawed Khan, living in New York, USA.
Programmer / Application Developer / Project Manager by profession.
Computer Instructor (Certified by NY State Board of Edu.) by second profession.
Network Admin, DataBase Admin, Graphic/Web Designer, Animation/Scripting/Programming and Hardware Technician by third profession (I have my own side business where I provide solutions to almost any and every computer related businesses. PakiRecipes is just one of the many websites I own and have created)
Perhaps this all sounds a little too professional
A musician by hobby with numerous stage, tv, radio, parade and mela performances in my credit.
Now... about PakiRecipes...
The domain name was registered on September 1st 2000 and the site was first launched on November 1st 2000.
What started as my practice on newly learned PERL Scripting and Text-File data has now become the true Largest Collection of Pakistani Recipes on the internet.
Honestly, I have no expertise in kitchen, cooking or any household whatsoever. It was just an idea, an implementation of my newly learned skills in programming that gave birth to PakiRecipes.
At this moment I would like to mention Mariam Qureshi, an online friend of mine at that time, who agreed to help me in writing articles, posting recipes in the beginning and regular updating.
For several months, while I was busy creating new screens, features and functionalities, it was Mariam who regularly wrote new articles, updated site and sent out newsletters to those who had subscribed to it.
For personal reasons and other reasons (that even I don't know) Mariam was not able to help me anymore and then even I stopped updating it.
But the core concept of "Public Post" kept it alive for all these years (almost 6 years). People kept posting and posting and posting recipes and what started with hardly 50 recipes has now reached 1000+ Recipes in vault.
Old technologies, basic concepts and poorly maintained code made it very hard for me to update it regularly and impossible for anyone to join and help. I just tried to keep it clean from vulgar posts, spams and inappropriate advertisements.
The last major updates I made was March 18th 2001 and nothing new was added since June 2001. As if the clock stopped on all updates.
I have been thinking about re-making the whole site for almost 2-3 years now. Had almost everything planned in my head all this time. New features, new functions, whats missing, how to go about it.... like cooking HALEEM in my head.
On August 1st 2006, I decided to launch the new PakiRecpes on Aug 24 on the 14 August Yooum-e-Azaadi occassion. Wait 14 August on August 24 ??
Exactly... I mixed Pakistan Day and my brother's birthday in my head (the Haleem). Obviously I realised my mistake but it was too late. I decided to just give all my will, skills and wisdon to it in 14 days !
Taking 2 day vacation from work plus the weekends, putting almost everything in life on hold.. all alone all by myself I re-designed, re-programmed, re-created and re-launched the all new PakiRecipes ver2.0 for you. The ones who visit it regularly and find it useful.
Now how is this for an introduction? _________________ PakiRecipes on Mobile Devices | PakiRecipes at Facebook

Thank you both for your kind words and well wishes.
