Siwayan is a very popular sweet dish that is widely cooked on the special occasion of Eid.

Ingredients
1 cup vermicilli noodles
1 tablespoon gheeClick to find more about ghee(clarified butterClick to find more about clarified butter)
1 cup condensed milk
1 tablespoon custard powder, dissolved in some warm milk
1/2 cup sugar
3-4 cups of whole milk, diluted with 12 cups of water.
1 tablespoon raisinsClick to find more about raisins
1 tablespoons halved cashewnutsClick to find more about cashewnuts, dry roasted.(You can substiture this with roasted, slivered almondsClick to find more about almonds or pistachios)
1 tsp crushed cardamomClick to find more about cardamom


Preparation
Heat the gheeClick to find more about ghee in a pan and add the vermicilli to it.
Fry the vermicilli till it turns brown in color.
The color should be between dark and light brown.
Take a open pan and add the milk to it.
Add the vermicilli to the milk and boil on a medium fire until the vermicilli is completely done.
This should take about 20-30 minutes.
Now add the custard powder and keep stirring.
Add the condensed milk , sugar, raisinsClick to find more about raisins and the nuts and stir till the sugar is dissolved and the mixture thickens.
Add the cardamomClick to find more about cardamom and serve hot.
It can also be stored in the fridge and served chilled.
It is delicious both ways!

The easiest way is to take 1 litre of milk and 1 tin of evaporated milk. Put it on medium fire, add 3-4 elaichi, 1stick cardamon, some raisins, sugar and some chopped almonds. When the milk starts to boil add the vermicelli and let it simmer for 5 mins. ITS' SO SIMPLE.

i just checked this recipe on another site... what the author means is to dilute 3 or 4 cups of POWDERED MILK with about 12 cups of water...

I did this dish for Eid and it was really nice the whole family enjoyed it....however i did NOT use all the amount of water mentioned ,just add accordingly.
